OHIP COVERAGE
Children (aged 0 to 19 years)
- Covered for one full eye exam every 12 months.
Adults (aged 20 - 64 years)
- No OHIP coverage (some medical exceptions permit one exam every 12 months)
Medical Exceptions for patients 20-64
- People with certain medical conditions like diabetes, glaucoma, retinal disease, cataract (with vision of 20/40 or worse in the better eye), corneal diseases etc... are also covered for one full eye exam every 12 months.
Seniors (65 and over)-Starting Sep 1, 2023
- one full eye exam every 12 months for patients with an eligible medical condition
- one full eye exam every 18 months for patients without an eligible medical condition
