Dr. Andy Nguyen was born and raised in Barrie, Ontario. He graduated at McMaster University in Hamilton with a Bachelor of Honours Life Sciences (2014-2019) and at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago with a Doctor of Optometry degree (2020-2024). During optometry school, he was awarded the American Academy of Optometry Dean's Office Travel Grant and presented his case report in New Orleans, Louisiana.
To refine his expertise, Dr. Nguyen completed his clinical training at Vision Point Eye Center, Georgia Eye Partners, Eyewest Vision Clinic, and the Illinois Eye Institute. At his internship sites, he managed various ocular conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eyes. He is able to provide pediatric care through amblyopia and myopia management. He is trained to perform in-office procedures such as foreign body removals and punctal plug insertions, and provide urgent care services. His interests lie in specialty contact lenses, dry eyes, and myopia management..
Dr. Morellato was born and raised in Timmins Ontario in a bilingual household. After completing his bachelor of science at the University of Ottawa in 1996, he carried on to his doctorate in optometry at the University of Montreal (1996-2000); both degrees in french. He moved to Barrie in 2000 with his wife Marlyss and together, they built the practice to what it is today. His special interest in fitting custom contact lenses helped him grow this aspect of the practice and has fit countless patients with custom rigid gas permeable and scleral lenses for irregular eye and conditions such as keratoconus, post corneal transplants, post PRK as well as lasik and a host of other corneal conditions. Dr. Morellato has also published articles on Keratoconus and Pellucid Marginal Corneal Degeneration in the Canadian Journal of Optometry.
In 2002, he won the Waubetek Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his work with orthokeratology and fitting custom rigid gas permeable lenses for various eye conditions. He loves the outdoors and spending all of his free time with his wife and son.
Dr. List started working with South Barrie Eye Clinic when he and his wife moved to Barrie in 2008. He moved to the area after living in the United States, where he grew up.
Dr. List got his undergrad degree from the University of Nebraska. He was on the dean's list and received his bachelor of science in education and fitness training. He then went on to study at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. There he received his doctorate degree in optometry. Dr. List has passed the United States boards exams along with the Canadian National Board Exam in Optometry.
Dr. List did internships in Alaska and Delaware before working in New York State. He and his wife moved to Canada in 2008. He practices medical optometry diagnosing and managing ocular disease from neonate to geriatric patients. Dr. List also does refractive optometry treating patients that need glasses and contact lenses. He has been fortunate to work in several different optometric settings including corporate, private, institutional and supportive care along with co-management with ophthalmologists.
Outside of work, Dr. List enjoys entertaining family and friends, traveling and spending time with his wife and three kids.
Dr. Jason Stuart was born and raised in Barrie, Ontario. He completed his Honours Specialization in Medical Sciences (2005-2009) at the University of Western Ontario, and his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo (2010-2014). He was named to the Dean's honours list each term and received the Alcon Award in Ocular Physiology. He has been a member of the team at South Barrie Eye Clinic since July of 2014.
As part of his clinical education, Dr. Stuart received extensive training at Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Centre in Muskogee, Oklahoma. During this time he managed a wide range of ocular diseases including cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and dry eye disease. Jason has also had the opportunity to work in several different private practices, where he was trained in pediatrics, vision therapy, contact lens, emergency services, as well as pre and post-operative cataract and laser surgery care. He has a special interest in pediatrics, vision therapy, and refractive surgery.
Dr. Stuart is an active member of his community. In 2012, he travelled with a group of Optometrists and volunteers to Nicaragua to provide eye exams and glasses to a community lacking access to eye care services. He regularly attends Simcoe County Young Professionals Association (SCYPA) events, and other networking events in the Barrie and surrounding area.
In his spare time, Dr. Stuart loves spending time with friends and family. He leads an active lifestyle, and enjoys the outdoors, especially when it involves a game of golf or hockey. He is excited to be practicing in his home town, and is enthusiastic about continuing to provide you and your family with quality eye care!
